MCD Election Results 2017 highlights: Major setback for Arvind Kejriwal as BJP heads for landslide victory

The counting of votes for the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) elections began at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Voting to pick three new municipal corporations in Delhi took place on Sunday, in which 54 per cent of the 1.32 crore electorate exercised their franchise till 5.30 p.m. when polling ended in 270 wards of the three municipal corporations.

 

Highlights:

03: 20 pm - BJP has won 128 seats so far. AAP and Congress are at 32 and 21 respectively.

03: 15 pm - AICC General Secretary Gurudas Kamat resigns from all party posts following Congress' poor show in the MCD election.

03: 00 pm - Delhi in charge of Congress P C Chacko has given his resignation to party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi after party's dismal show in MCD polls.

02: 00 pm - Congress leaders Prerna Singh wins Anand Parbat.

01: 50 pm - BJP's Tilak Raj Kataria wins Shalimar Bagh in South Delhi.

01: 45 pm - BJP: 185, Congress: 28, AAP: 46, Others: 11

01: 10 pm - Grateful to people of Delhi for faith in BJP. I laud hardwork of team BJP which made the resounding MCD win possible: PM Narendra Modi.

 

01: 00 pm - AAP wins Shakurpur ward in North Delhi Municipal Corporation. 

12: 55 pm - We dedicate this win to CRPF jawans who lost their lives in sukma attack: Manoj Tiwari, BJP Delhi Chief.

12: 35 pm - BJP: 181, Congress: 31, AAP: 46, Others: 12

11: 38 am - It (BJP's landslide victory) is unbelievable. There is a huge gap in seat tally and the only reason is EVM tampering: Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

11: 32 am - BJP's Seema Malik wins from Kastruba Nagar.
