If the 45 dead and hundreds injured in Jammu and Kashmir have not been able to bring the recent protests in the state in to your drawing-room conversations, this Facebook campaign may succeed. A campaign by a citizens\' collective. aimed at amplifying the noise around the horrors of the pellets guns used by paramilitary forces in the Valley, has gone viral.
The campaign consists of morphed images of 11 celebrities, asking people would they care more about the issue if these celebrities were Kashmiris and were hit by the pellets. like hundreds of ordinary Kashmiris have been hit. Set against a black background with one celebrity\'s pellet-ridden face staring at you, the images are overpowering, almost ghost-like. On the right hand side, is a note for the celebrity purportedly written by a real victim.
The 11 celebrities include Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Alia Bhatt, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol and Hrithik Roshan, captain of the Indian test-cricket team Virat Kohli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress party\'s President Sonia Gandhi and even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The group, called Never Forget Pakistan, claims to be a "collective of concerned citizens belonging to various walks of life...who have come together for the advancement of the counter narrative to extremism and terrorism in Pakistan." It says that this campaign has been designed to "highlight the atrocities and abuses carried out by the Indian Armed forces and Police".
