Navratri Special 2018: From dates to significance, all you need to know about this Chaitra Navratri

India is having a diversified culture and traditions due to which it always grabbed the attention of the world. There are many festivals have been celebrated in the country according to the various religions. As recently, the colourful festival Holi has gone. Now, it’s the time to celebrate the country’s another major festival Navratri.

Every year, Navratri is celebrated twice in the country. Firstly, it is celebrated in the month of Chaitra or Vasant, March-April and the other is celebrated in September-October, Chaitra Navratri, according to the Hindu calendar.

During this festive season, devotees worship Goddess Durga and her nine avatars. This year, Chaitra, Navratri will be started from 18 March (Sunday) and would be celebrated till 25 March. The devotees fast during the nine days along with the following the rituals of the festival.

This auspicious festival is celebrated across the country in the number of ways. On all the nine days of the festival, devotees make offerings such as sweets, flowers, sringar, etc. People used to do poojas, havans to welcome the goddess Durga in their home for nine days. Likewise, the Maha Navratri’s tenth day is celebrated as the Dusshera or Vijyadashmi, the ninth day of the Vasant Navratri is celebrated as a Ram Navami, celebrated as Lord Rama’s birthday. Therefore, Vasant Navratri is also celebrated as a Rama Navratri.
