Reliance Jio may deliver sims at your home: Report

A report by Telecom Talk states that Reliance Jio may have plans to start home delivery of SIM cards. In a first, the company is likely to launch a portal where you will have to submit your information to book a Jio sim card.

The launch of Reliance Jio services has enthused new and old telecom subscribers in the country. Amid reports that Reliance Jio sims have become unavailable at Reliance Digital and Digital Xpress stores, there is some good news for those unable to get sims till now.

A report by Telecom Talk states that Reliance Jio may have plans to start home delivery of SIM cards. In a first, the company is likely to launch a portal where you will have to submit your information to book a Jio sim card.

It will take around 5-7 days for the Jio sim to be delivered to the applicant's address.

The report states that people working with Jio have confirmed the testing of the process and the delivery in metros is likely to start soon. It will be rolled out in non-metro cities later.

The firm started offering its 4G plans from September 5. The postpaid plans start at Rs 149 unlike prepaid, which start at Rs 19. Voice calls for Reliance Jio customers are not chargeable. Jio users will not be required to pay roaming charges. Reliance Jio Preview offer is free for now, and users will be charged only from January 1, 2017.

Reliance Jio, which has already roped in around 5 million subscribers, is targeting 100 million users at the shortest possible time.
