IndiGo, TCS, Infosys among seven stocks that hogged limelight on Dalal Street today

Shares of Piramal Enterprises spiked 4 per cent to hit record high after the company said it is set to acquire US-based contract development and manufacturing firm Ash Stevens Inc for over Rs 350 crore.

The S&P BSE Sensex on Wednesday settled the day 59 points lower, but above its crucial 28,000 level, while the broader Nifty50 closed below its key 8,650 mark.

The headline indices fell taking lead from global markets which slumped after two influential Federal Reserve officials said interest rates in US could rise as soon as in September.

Below are five stocks that buzzed in trade today:

Piramal Ent: Shares of Piramal Enterprises spiked 4 per cent to hit record high after the company said it is set to acquire US-based contract development and manufacturing firm Ash Stevens Inc for over Rs 350 crore.

Zee Learn, Tree House: Shares of Zee Learn and Tree House Education surged up to 20 per cent after the two companies announced a revised swap ratio for their merger, putting an end to concerns of existing stakeholders. Tree House settled the day 15 per cent higher, while Zee Learn added 11 per cent at close.

InterGlobe Aviation: Shares of InterGlobe Aviation rose nearly 4 per cent intraday after the global brokerage Citi upgraded the stock to 'buy' from 'neutral', with target price of Rs 1,100.

Sun Pharma: Shares of Sun Pharma fell over 1 per cent intraday after the pharma major said Virtuous Finance, part of the promoter group has pledged one crore shares of the company amounting to 0.42 per cent stake to State Bank of India. The stock settled the day flat.

IT stocks: Shares of Infosys and TCS fell up to 3 per cent intraday after a media report said the increase in short-term visa fees for professionals instituted by the US last December is likely to stay. Both stocks were among top losers on Sensex and Nifty.
