How Varun Sharma got inspired to become an actor thanks to ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’ : Bollywood News

Varun Sharma had made a mark in Bollywood prior to Fukrey Returns without doubt. But nobody realized that he can be turn to be a crowd puller. He has a major contribution in getting Fukrey Returns cross the Rs. 80 crore mark which is a huge feat. The journey however hasn’t been easy for Varun Sharma, now popularly known as ‘Choocha’ after his character in Fukrey. Hailing from a small town in Punjab, it was the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Darr that played a huge role in his life.

How Varun Sharma got inspired to become an actor thanks to ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’

Varun Sharma reveals, “I am from Jalandhar and my journey hasn’t been easy. I have seen a lot of ups and downs. I didn’t know anyone here. I saw Baazigar and was impressed with the song ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein’. That was the first time that I thought of becoming an actor. I told my mom that I want to get into acting when I grow up. She didn’t take me seriously and retorted, ‘Pehle khaana khaa lo. Baad mein baat karte hai’!”

He continues, “After completing my college, I came to Mumbai and started interning under casting director Nandini Shrikent. That’s when I worked under films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Talaash, The Reluctant Fundamentalist etc. I took up this job as I thought that casting is closest to acting. So I believed that it will be great to different actors performing the same scene and thereby understand the craft better. After I completed my internship, I continued working with Nandina Shrikent as I was enjoying the casting process. Simultaneously, I was going for auditions as well. I got a chance to do an ad after which I went back to Jalandhar. I told my friends about it and they asked me, ‘Bhai, ad toh ek din mein shoot ho gayi, baaki 6 mahine kya kara’? They didn’t realize that in Mumbai, finding work is also a job in itself. In those 6 months, if I manage to bag an ad shoot is also a big thing in itself in my opinion.”

With his breakthrough in life, Varun Sharma’s Jalandhar-based friends are obviously happy now. He states, “Now, whenever my films come out, these friends of mine, who are hard-core Punjabis, they put its posters on the back and front of the car and roam around the city. So it feels good that I am getting to do whatever I wanted to do in my life or dreamt of doing.”
