EXCLUSIVE: When Shah Rukh Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sania Mirza came on Farah Khan’s show and set the stage afire!

It cannot get bigger, better and hotter than this for a Diwali special. Shah Rukh Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Farah Khan and Sania Mirza coming together for a special episode and setting the stage on alight as both the actors danced to a medley of songs from Shah Rukh’s film. It was a Shah Rukh Khan special for the Diwali episode of Farah Khan’s show Lip Sing Battle which will be aired on October 21 on Star Plus. A beaming Sushant just could not hold back his emotions at being on the same show as his icon Shah Rukh whom he has always called his inspiration.

We get you all the inside scoop on this one…

Says a unit member present on the sets, “They did ‘Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane Poochhoon To Main Zara’ from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and ‘Chaiyyan Chaiyyan’ and just went on doing finally till we had to say stop. Shah Rukh Khan did ‘Gerua’ with Sania and then there was a whole medley of Shah Rukh songs which everyone was dancing to. It was a Shah Rukh Khan special. First, Sushant kick-started the show with the song ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’, ‘Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte’ from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. He knew all the steps by heart and wanted to do everything himself. We didn’t have to choreograph him. Then we did the ‘Ruk Jaa O Dil Deewane’ with the piano and lot of iconic Shah Rukh moments, like the train – Sushant went behind the train and SRK came out of it. In the crowd the girls were crying and screaming and going berserk watching their heartthrobs come together on stage and perform! We didn’t want to do anything typical but something very unexpected – like the Lip Sing Battle way. Shah Rukh was in a great mood!”

The source explains why Shah Rukh and Sushant came together on the show. “We try to get whoever’s fan boy or girl is of the star on the show. Like Ayushmann Khurrana is Govinda’s fan and he wanted to perform to Govinda’s songs only or Sonakshi wanted to do Prabhu Dheva’s songs so we got Prabhu on the show. So it’s nice when you are a genuine fan as opposed to when you are faking it. Sushant loves Shah Rukh and was thrilled to meet SRK on the show. On the show he was hugging him and he was quite overwhelmed at meeting his idol. Sushant said on the show that he was in college studying engineering when he saw Om Shanti Om and then how his life changed and he thanked Farah and Shah Rukh for influencing him and making him follow his heart through the film. It was a very sweet and touching moment…”

Sania Mirza was a revelation on the show, the source reveals. “Sania did the sensuous nightclub number ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from Don. We were in shock to see her dance so well and looking so glamorous and hot. She’s never done anything like this before and danced so well. Sania flew down a day earlier from Dubai, stayed with Farah at her home and kept rehearsing till she got it right and she was amazing! Then she performed to ‘I Am The Best’ from Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani where they got a sports team to dance with her. It’s a Diwali special which will be aired this Saturday on Star Plus.”
