en Bollywood News Deepika Padukone on being named in TIME: “Never believed in self-acknowledgment but feel little sense of achievement”

Deepika Padukone is the current reigning Queen of Bollywood as her last movie Padmaavat did a record-breaking business at the box office moreover, just yesterday she was featured in 100 most influential people in the coveted TIME magazine’s list and catapulted her way into becoming a huge global star. She surely got the international media’s attention with this achievement but she who believes in being grounded and low profile prefers to remain unfazed despite the momentous success. She said that despite all this, there sure is a little sense of achievement and it is humbling to be acknowledged for the work that you do, and so, it’s her absolute honour to be part of this prestigious list alongside such incredible achievers.

Guess who penned a heartfelt note for her in the magazine? Her favourite co-star Vin Diesel from xXx: Return Of Xander Cage! Yeah, he wrote, “When Deepika Padukone came in to read for one of the Fast and the Furious films, I knew instantly I was in the presence of someone very special. As soon as she entered the room, there was a synchronicity, a synergy, chemistry—it promised great things to come. Her schedule didn’t work for that movie, but I never gave up. She was the first role we cast in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She said, ‘I want to do this movie, but if I do, you have to come to India.’ Thank God I made that deal.” Beautiful,  right?

After having given Bollywood many of its firsts with the release of Padmaavat this year, Deepika has also earned her name in the 100 Most Influential People in the World. The list, now in its fifteenth year, recognizes the activism, innovation, and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

Overwhelmed by the honour Deepika Padukone shared,"Honestly, I’ve never really believed in self-acknowledgement. Instead, I have always looked ahead [in life]. But I must admit that today, I do feel a small sense of achievement. It is humbling to be acknowledged for the work that you do, and so, it’s my absolute honour to be part of this prestigious list alongside such incredible achievers".

Deepika's rumoured beau Ranveer Singh too took to Instagram to comment on her TIME cover, calling her ‘QUEEN. Her rumoured rival Priyanka Chopra too wrote that she is happy and proud with Deepika and Indian Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli’s name being included in TIME.
