en Bollywood News Ali Abbas Zafar reveals what to expect from the DVD of Tiger Zinda Hai

It has been well over two weeks now since the Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai hit screens. The cast of the film and its makers are certainly on cloud nine with the staggering success Tiger Zinda Hai has enjoyed in both the domestic and overseas markets. Now revealing a bit about what to expect from the DVD of the film, Ali Abbas Zafar shed a bit of light about a certain sequence that will be changed in the longer cut of Tiger Zinda Hai.

Ali Abbas Zafar reveals what to expect from the DVD of Tiger Zinda Hai

In an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama, Ali Abbas Zafar revealed to us that the DVD would include a longer cut of Tiger Zinda Hai. If that wasn’t enough, Zafar also told us that the extended version of the film would include the track ‘Daata Tu’, which was deleted from the theatrical release. “For everyone to know, there is a longer cut of Tiger Zinda Hai that we are working on, and when it comes out on DVD you will have a longer cut that has all those elements in it.”

Later talking about the song in question and why it was deleted from the theatrical release of Tiger Zinda Hai, Ali Abbas Zafar reasoned how the inclusion of the track was affecting the overall pace of the film, and why it was hard for him to delete the track. “‘Daata Tu’ was actually one of my favourite songs. But an espionage actioner works at a certain pace, and when I conceived ‘Daata Tu’, I noticed that it was kind of slowing down the pace of the film. So it was a hard decision to take the track off.” Further talking about how the track and its placement in the film affected the overall pace of Tiger Zinda Hai, Ali went on, “The song was originally conceived to inter cut the part in the second half of the film where Abu Usman is given a speech and Tiger is lining up the medicines. The song was meant to show that there is a right and there is a wrong, there is a god and an anti-god, but we noticed that the speech and Tiger's part was dramatic enough and to intercut it with this song, and somehow the screenplay with the track didn’t kind of channelize the same kind of energy.”

As for the film itself, Tiger Zinda Hai, which released on December 22 was produced by Yash Raj Films and has been doing brisk business at the box office. In fact, the film which was a sequel to the previous release Ek Tha Tiger fast made it past the Rs. 300 cr mark, achieving the same within just 16 days of its release.
