#2017Recap 14 most embarrassing scenes in Bollywood films this year

Every year, we come across films that cringe us from start to finish or have particular sequences that make us want to bury our heads in shame. Bollywood Hungama in this special feature collates a list of 14 such sequences in Hindi films in 2017 that we felt were highly embarrassing.

#2017Recap: 14 most embarrassing scenes in Bollywood films this year

1. OK Jaanu

Ok-Jaanu

The film falls like a pack of cards in the beginning itself in this particular sequence. Adi (Aditya Roy Kapur) arrives in Mumbai and immediately, he storms into an office and gives the idea of a new game. The way he narrates the idea is so unconvincing but you see the expression of happiness and excitement (Prahlad Kakar) on the face of the boss. You hope the boss is being sarcastic and he kicks him out of the office. But alas, you learn that the boss is actually tripping over Adi’s idea and offers him the job!

2. Kaabil

Kaabil

Kaabil has its moments and you do root for the man when he goes out to kill those who raped his deceased wife. But a particular sequence shows Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) being heavily traumatised by Supriya’s (Yami Gautam) rape that he forgets to take care of her and neither refutes nor agrees when she says that it will be alright if he wants to leave her. She kills herself after she is raped again as she feels that her husband won’t be able to face it and that’s something that she can’t face it! We were not surprised that many objected to this cringe worthy sequence.

3. Rangoon

Rangoon

The ending could have been quite impactful. But VFX ruined it all. Saif Ali Khan walking on the sides of the bridge like a trapeze artist was not a good way to end this film at all.

4. Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Badrinath-Ki-Dulhania

Humpty Sharma K Dulhania was quite an entertainer but Badrinath Ki Dulhania boasted of many embarrassing scenes, especially in the second half. The sequence where Badri (Varun Dhawan) abducts Vaidehi (Alia Bhatt) forcibly, stuffs her inside the trunk of his car for probably 10-15 minutes takes the cake. After this disgusting scene, the makers expected us to sympathize for Badri and for many, it was just not possible.

5. Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Badrinath-Ki-Dulhania_02

We can’t help but feature this film again thanks to the other embarrassing sequence, comprising the molestation of Badri. What made matters worse is that it was supposed to be a funny sequence.

6. Phillauri

Phillauri

Phillari never went on a high but it did go on a real low in the climax. It involves the friendly ghost (Anushka Sharma) finally meeting the man whom she loved (Diljit Dosanjh). This dragging, slow scene is laughable and in fact, it made a mockery of the ghastly Jallianwalla Bagh massacre.

7. Half Girlfriend

Half-Girlfriend

Ever since we knew the film was launched, we were intrigued as to how Mohit Suri and team would depict the crucial Bill Gates sequence. The film was helmed by a huge studio like Balaji and we really thought that they won’t go wrong with this sequence. But alas, they did and how! The face of Bill is plastered on some body double with the help of a badly-done VFX job. It turned out to be the most embarrassing sequence of Indian Cinema arguably and we couldn’t stop laughing in the theatre!

8. Raabta

Raabta

This scene was riddled with weird moments from start to finish but what took the cake was the flashback sequence. The manner in which Saaiba (Kriti Sanon) and Jilaan (Sushant Singh Rajput)’s love blossoms while they are chasing each other and mouthing dialogues that were difficult to comprehend made for a sad watch.

9. Tubelight

Tubelight

Salman Khan was extremely endearing in Bajrangi Bhaijaan but in Tubelight, he went off track at places. The scene where Laxman (Salman Khan) cries when he hears about his brother’s (Sohail Khan) death looked fake and there were reports of people laughing in theatres in that said sequence. What made matters worse was that others emoted very well in that scene – from Om Puri to Zhu Zhu to Brijendra Kala to even child actor Matin Rey Tangu!

10. Munna Michael

Munna-Michael

Sabbir Khan took lot of cinematic liberties in his previous films but with Munna Michael, he tried to push the envelope even further. But he ended up tearing it up. We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw Munna (Tiger Shroff) getting shot in Delhi. But instead of going to the hospital, he heads to the airport and reaches Mumbai where a dance competition is going on. He ends up dancing there and just to remind you guys, the bullet is still lodged inside him, in his knees. But that doesn’t seem to affect him at all and it’s only when Dolly (Nidhhi Agerwal) tries to do a stunt and puts her feet on his knee that he feels the pain. And that’s not all, she falters but Munna keeps dancing and in the second attempt, he manages to complete the stunt. No wonder this film failed miserably.

11. Jab Harry Met Sejal

Jab-Harry-Met-Sejal

The film doesn’t start off very well but you still give it a chance, hoping it would get better as it progresses. But all hopes are dashed in the sequence where Harry (Shah Rukh Khan) wakes up and gets overwhelmed when he sees Sejal (Anushka Sharma) unintentionally cuddling up to him. He breaks down and says something in Punjabi that we couldn’t get despite multiple viewing. Still, we thought that Harry’s backstory will be shown later and that would justify Harry’s crying. But nothing of that sort happens, which makes this sequence all the more confusing and embarrassing.

12. Haseena Parkar

Haseena-Parkar

This film was a very lame attempt in showing Haseena Parkar in a positive light. The climax monologue of Haseena made no impact and in fact, it became atrocious thanks to the shot of the judge, who seemed impressed with her unexciting speech.

13. Bhoomi

Bhoomi

This film’s treatment was very 90s types and had plenty of awkward sequences. What takes the cake according to us is Taj (Shekhar Suman) learning about the marriage of his munh-boli-niece Bhoomi (Aditi Rao Hydari) and in excitement, hugging a Chinese tourist, a female one obviously. The tourist repulses as expected and he tries to justify his action by saying, “Sorry, sorry. Woh excitement mein Hindustani bhool gaya ki kab woh Chinese border mein ghoos gaya”. Downright racist and anything but funny!

14. Tiger Zinda Hai

Tiger-Zinda-Hai

This is a great entertainer without doubt. But one particular scene really made us cringe. Zoya (Katrina Kaif) is driving the car with Tiger (Salman Khan) as her co-passenger. She tries to dodge the enemy successfully. But in the process the car is compelled to fly in the air. One particular shot made us believe that the car is going to turn turtle as it almost gets overturned. But in the next shot, the car lands flawlessly on its four ‘feet’, leaving everyone shocked!
