Three youths were killed in a road accident at the Pune-Satara state highway near Khed Shivapur in the early hours of Thursday.

Three youths were killed in a road accident at the Pune-Satara state highway near Khed Shivapur in the early hours of Thursday.

The police has identified the deceased as Chinar Raut (22) resident of Nalasopara, Aayush (24) from Virar and Aadyak Kator (25) from Colaba. The trio was heading to Mahabaleshwar in a car.

A tanker dashed the car from behind, following which the vehicle lost control and later crashed against a rock. All three died on the spot and two other were injured. The incident took place near Velu village at around 5.45 am.

“Two others are critical, and have been rushed to the Pune-based Sassoon General Hospital. They have been kept under observation in the ICU,” said the police.

Mrunmayi Sarekar, a friend of Raut, said, “He was living with his sister, father and mother.”

“Chinar did his hotel management and started working with a five-star soon after. He was very fond of travelling and therefore he made plans with his four colleagues to go for trekking near Mahabaleshwar. He was very happy about his first trip and wanted to make it a success,” said Ms Sarekar. “But unfortunately the accident happened before they reached the spot. All of the family members collapsed after they heard about the incident,” she said.

Adhyank Kator, a resident of Colaba was living with his sister and mother. He was a hotel management student and working with banquet section of a five-star hotel for two years.
