Shiv Sena recommends names of trustees

Shiv Sena on Monday recommended to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis four names as trustees of the proposed memorial of party supremo, late Balasaheb Thackeray, with Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray as lifetime trustees among them. The mayor’s bungalow at Dadar will be converted into the memorial while the mayor will be shifted to the commissioner’s bungalow.

The high-powered committee set up by the state government chaired by chief secretary Swadhween Kshatriya has already approved location of the mayor’s bungalow and the adjacent plot of Park Club for the Balasaheb memorial.

The BMC has already issued notice to the club to vacate the plot.

The issue of registration of trust for the memorial was pending as Mr Uddhav had to decide on the names of trustees.

On Monday, he finalised four names including his son Aditya, himself, industries minister Subhash Desai and architect of the memorial Shashi Prabhu. Confirming the names of the trustees, Mr Desai said, “Mr Uddhav will be the lifetime chairman of the trust while Aditya will also be a lifetime trustee. The chief minister of the state will also be a trustee and other members will be from the government. The trust will have around 11 members.”

With Mr Uddhav intimating the names to the chief minister, the next step will be that state registering the trust with the charity commissioner.
