With miscreants burning vehicles for the second time this week, residents of Mahalaxminagar area of Nashik city resorted to a road blockade in protest.

With miscreants burning vehicles for the second time this week, residents of Mahalaxminagar area of Nashik city resorted to a road blockade in protest.

Earlier, on May 11, six motorcycles were set ablaze by miscreants in Shree Apartment in the Mahalaxminagar area in the early hours. The police said six motorcycles, a handcart and a cycle were burnt in the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday. Sources said the burnt vehicles were in the parking lot of Nilanjan Neel Apartments in Mahalaxminagar area on Kamathwada-Ambad MIDC Link Road when they were torched around 2 am.

The residents who woke up after sensing the smoke, called up the police and fire brigade. The fire brigade tenders rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire immediately. However by that time, the vehicles were gutted.

Nashik police commissioner S. Jagannathan said that a police outpost under Ambad police station would be soon erected in Gulmohor colony area. “The police will thoroughly investigate the incident and arrest the guilty,” he said. On April 21, five private buses were gutted in a fire, which broke out at 1 am in a parking lot in Adgaon area of Nashik City in which property worth lakhs was destroyed. The gutted buses owned by Matoshri Travels were on contract to Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.
