Taking a step towards having seamless connectivity between major infrastructure projects of the city, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will appoint project management consultants (PMC) for re-studying the alignment of the 5-km-long Worli-Sewri elevated corridor. This corridor will connect the proposed Coastal Road, Sewri-Nhava Sheva Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) and the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL).

MMRDA additional metropolitan commissioner Sanjay Khandare said, “We will be floating bids soon for appointing project management consultants (PMC) for the Worli-Sewri elevated corridor.” The role of the PMC will be to re-study the alignment that has been already planned in such a manner that it will inter-link three big ticket infrastructure projects, a move which is expected to make Navi Mumbai more accessible via MTHL, especially for people travelling from Bandra onwards or far from the western suburbs. The consultants will also guide in the bidding process of the project and identify the necessary permissions that should be obtained for the project. They will also identify the updated cost of the project.

The proposed Worli-Sewri elevated corridor was originally planned as a connector for the 22-km MTHL. It would ensure a signal-free ride from Sewri to Bandra and it was revived after being put on the backburner for a while. Upon reviving the project, the authority had planned to call for fresh bids, as the previously called bids cannot be considered anymore.
