With the detailed project report (DPR) for the 32-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali corridor Metro-4 corridor prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation out, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has put the extension of the Metro-4 corridor from Wadala up to the proposed location of CST on the backburner.

The MMRDA had previously had plans to extend the Metro-4 corridor from Wadala up to CST, but has now decided to only concentrate on the alignments, which are part of the initial plans.

“We have received the draft DPR for the Metro-4 corridor and we have gone through it and have sent the remarks back on the same. However, the draft will now be presented in the authority for clearance. Also, there are no such plans of extension at the moment and the extension could be taken up later,” said UPS Madan, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.

However, the alignment of the corridor is being proposed to be passing by LBS road instead of the initial plans of Eastern Express Highway.

Similarly, the MMRDA has also put the proposal of extending the Dahisar east- Andheri east Metro-7 corridor up to the airport and the north-south extension of the Eastern Freeway on the backburner.

According to MMRDA officials, MMRDA wants to concentrate only on the alignments that were planned initially and not take up new projects allowing them to concentrate on other projects, which are already proposed.
