A day after The Asian Age reported on Tuesday that the Mumbai police website had uploaded incorrect contact numbers of two IPS officers, the website (https://mumbaipolice.maharashtra.gov.in/) replaced the numbers with correct numbers. A show cause notice was also served on the police officer concerned from the state home department for the alleged lapse.

There had been complaints that the website was not updated regularly, leading to inconvenience to citizens. The wrong contact numbers displayed on the website were of additional commissioner (local arms department) Aswati Dorje and additional commissioner (traffic department) Sunil Paraskar.

A source from the police cyber cell said, “A officer of API rank has been served the show cause notice from home department of Mantralaya after the news of wrong number uploaded in Mumbai police website was published in The Asian Age newspaper of Wednesday.”

“The officer is being asked why such errors were made. And it should not be repeated. The new numbers or change in numbers should be uploaded immediately.

It was an error that has been corrected. The new numbers have been uploaded. We have already taken cognisance to avoid such errors,” the source added.
