The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has announced the dates for the Common Entrance Test for admission to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved management colleges in the state. The CET will be held online and examination will be held for two days on March 14 and 15. Students have the option of choosing the day they want to appear for the test that will decide on the distribution of around 45,000 seats on offer. Dates for the CET for MCA courses have also been announced.

According to the DTE notice, the MAH-CET for MBA, MMS and PGDM courses will be held on March 14 and 15 through the online process and will consist of 200 multiple choice objective type questions. The scores of the CET will be valid for admission to approved B Schools in the state as well as other well-known institutes such as JBIMS, KJ Somaiya, MET, SIES, DY Patil, to name a few after they have decided to offer admission only based on the MAH-CET scores only.

According to a DTE official this year, around 50,000-60,000 MBA aspirants are expected to appear for the MAH-CET and the number of seats available has also gone up to 45,000 from 30,000 till a couple of years ago. The multiple choice objective type questions will not be carrying negative marking and since assessment will also be computerised, verification or reassessment option will not available to the students. The questions will be divided in three parts that include verbal ability and reading comprehension, quantitative aptitude and abstract and logical ability. Students will have the option of choosing the sections in any order. The students will not be allowed to use calculators, algorithms or tables for the test nor will be allowed to carry any study material to the venue of the test, details of which will be announced a week before the test.

The official added that appearing for the MAH-CET was a better option for MBA aspirants as the institutions that would be admitting students based on the scores had their fees regulated by the Shikshan Shulk Samiti and hence the fees would not be steep or exorbitant.

The CET for MCA will be held on March 29 and the scores will be valid for admission to first year and to the direct second year of the post-graduate course.
