The Bombay high court has asked the state to file a reply on the petition alleging that it does not pay enough salary or provide equipment to security personnel recruited by the Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) after the 26/11 terror attack in 2008.

Justice V.M. Kanade and Justice M.S. Sonak was hearing a public interest litigation filed by All-India Human Rights Association. The state government had constituted the Ram Pradhan Committee to review security lapses. This committee had recommended to the state to constitute a security force.

The PIL alleges these security personnel are getting salaries lower than a constable or head constable of the Mumbai police, namely `10,000 per month. Also, they were not being provided enough equipment to do their job, the PIL stated.

The petition demanded that the government should make separate service rules for them, and ensure that the personnel are paid according to the Mumbai police service rules.

The prosecution said MSSC did not recruit security personnel but it was done by home department.
