The Bhandup police has registered a case against two conmen who would allegedly dupe unemployed youths by promising them jobs abroad in exchange for Rs 50,000 and then after receiving the money, not help the job seekers.

According to Bhandup police officials, they received information that a group of four men operating from Dreams mall in Bhandup, were offering jobs in countries like Canada, Singapore, Dubai and Kuwait to people despite not being authorised by the government to do so.

Commenting on the case, a police official said on the condition of anonymity, “The main accused runs an agency at Dreams mall by the name ‘Universal Man Power’. He had been operating it since the last six months. A resident then approached the accused on his given address with eight more of his friends.” The accused Asif and Faijan Shaikh gave the youths attractive job offers and demanded `50,000 from each of them in return, said the police official. The victims paid half of the money as a first instalment and were assured that they will be given their visas in one month. But when the accused did not give them their visa for four months, they approached the police.

“They have fled the city but two of our teams are looking for them and they will soon be arrested,” said a police officer from Bhandup police station.
