3 arrested for killing ‘arrogant’ woman

Malwani police of Malad arrested three men in connection with a five-month-old case where a naked, unidentified body of a woman was found in Madh area in January this year.

Of the three accused — one is the deceased’s brother-in-law, the other his nephew, and the third a friend of his nephew. Police officials said all three accused hated the deceased and found her arrogant, which is why they killed her; first with a brick and later by strangulating her.

After murdering the victim, the trio took off all her clothes and raped her, later throwing the body in Madh area.

Police had recovered the deceased’s body from Madh on January 3. Meanwhile, the deceased’s husband had lodged a missing complaint of the woman as he was unaware she was dead. Malwani police later identified the dead body after which, the brother-in-law was nabbed during investigation. The accused — identified as Mohammad Rais (elder brother-in-law), Mohammad Ishaq Quraishi (nephew), and Gulam Rasool Alias Shabbir (nephew’s friend) — have been booked for murder under relevant sections of IPC and sent to police custody till May 27; said DCP of the area, Vikram Deshmane.
