2 die in separate accidents near Vikhroli

Two men died in two separate incidents near Vikhroli on Wednesday night. In the first instance, a tempo being driven by a learner mowed down a 35-year-old and in the second instance, a middle-aged man was run over by an unknown vehicle near Jogeshwari Link Road going towards Powai.

The deceased in the first accident who was mowed down by a learner has been identified as Satish Kumar Pandey. He was crossing the road when at around 9.30pm, he was run over by a tempo driver who took a hasty turn. He was immediately taken to Rajawadi Hospital where doctors said he should be shifted to Sion Hospital. He was declared dead before admission in Sion Hospital.

Investigation officer in the case, Suyog Dhumal, said, “The tempo was being driven by Tellapa Mallapa Madar, 36, who was learning to drive a tempo while his friend sat alongside. He fled from the place after the incident but we arrested him at 6.30am on Thursday.”

In the other incident, a middle-aged man was mowed down by an unknown vehicle at around 1.30 the same day. Vikhroli police said it is investigating the case and will be able to find out which car hit the man with the help of CCTV footage.
