Smriti Irani, ex-minister for HRD, had a controversial tenure. From misreporting her educational qualifications to overturning FYUP in Delhi University, calling out of Anil Kakodkar and her run-in with Bihar’s minister for education, Ms Irani has had more than a lion’s share of controversies in her two-year tenure. But given her irreverence for lineage — Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi — and her emphasis that she is a self-made woman, it seems unlikely that Ms Irani has been demoted.
