Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to initiate anti-government lobbying in the United Kingdom amid the Panama leaks scandal.

The party decided that contacts shall be established with the Labour Party’s friends of Pakistan and the Conservative Party’s friends of Pakistan in this regards.

PTI London president barrister Waheedur Rehman said the party’s leadership will meet with UK members of Parliament after Id-ul Fitr in July.

He added that the MPs shall be demanded to take legislative action against those who purchased properties through money earned by corruption.

Barrister Rehman also said that it was decided that the London police shall be complained after Id-ul Fitr about those named in Panama Leaks.

PTI leaders in London will register complaints against those who purchased properties through money earned by corruption whereas an awareness campaign against the Panama leaks shall also be run in the city, sources said. Meanwhile, PTI chief Imran Khan said any real and meaningful terms of reference for Panamagate probe would not let the ruling family evade accountability but the government was making all out efforts to save themselves.

“The government is trying hard to save the ruling family from accountability but the PTI and other opposition parties will not let them do so,” claimed Mr Khan while addressing a party gathering in Lahore.

The corrupt must be held accountable whether they belong to the ruling family, PTI, any other political party or any other segment of society for leading the country into a real era of progress, he added.

Panama leaks provide a golden opportunity to do away with the corruption at the highest echelons of power. “The PTI will definitely take to the streets if the ruling party did show flexibility over terms of reference after Eid,” warned the PTI chairman.

“This is not I and other Opposition leaders who put the names of the ruling family in Panama leaks list. There are other names of influential people too in the list belonging to other countries. We don’t want cock and bull story from the ruling party. We want doable and effective TORs for Panama leaks commission.”

He said British Prime Minister David Cameron had resigned after the results of the referendum as he thinks that he has no moral authority to remain the premier. However, the Prime Minister of ‘our country’ instead of resigning is telling lies on the floor of the parliament, he said.
