Odisha’s top industrialist Trailokya Mishra and his son Sabyasachi Mishra on Wednesday moved anticipatory bail petitions in the Orissa High Court to avoid a possible arrest in the case pertaining to the allegation of physical and mental torture levelled against them by Sabyasachi’s wife-Lopamudra Mishra. The bail applications were filed by the father and son duo’s counsel Siddheswar Mohanty, sources said. Apart from levelling charges of physical and mental torture for dowry against Sabyasachi and his family members, the 36-year-old has also alleged that her husband had forced her to go for wife-swapping with a foreigner in 2006. “Soon after our marriage, we had gone on a honeymoon trip to Port Blair. I saw there Sabyasachi talking to a foreigner... Moments later, he came to me and asked to go for wife-swapping which I strongly objected to. Then he started beating me.”

The case has registered a case (117/2016) at the Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar. The complainant had alleged in her first information report (FIR) that she had been subjected to torture on numerous occasions.

“A case under Sections 498 A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered with Mahila police. The Investigating Officer (IO) is probing the matter and the supervising officer has also been told to expedite the matter,” Bhubaneswar deputy commission of police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi said.
