Even as former BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya keeps his friends and foes guessing about his next political move, the Rashtriya Lok Dal and the Janata Dal (United) have invited the leader to join their fold.

State RLD president Munna Singh Chauhan, said, “Swami Prasad Maurya has graduated from the Charan Singh school of politics and was the UP state secretary of youth wing of the Lok Dal from 1980 to 1985. Hence, homecoming should not be difficult for Maurya.”

Mr Chauhan said that RLD was willing to accept Mr Maurya if he was interested in joining the party.

“I was among the first callers to congratulate Maurya after he announced a revolt against Mayawati. RLD would be happy to welcome Maurya in its party fold,” he added.

The JD(U) has also offered to join hands with Mr Maurya if he shunned the BJP and the SP.

A JD(U) leader in Lucknow said that if Mr Maurya forms his own party, there is a strong possibility of an alliance with the JD(U).

The JD(U) has been searching for a suitable political ground to expand its base to UP and along with the RLD, an alliance with an OBC-backed party with Mr Maurya as its head, could prove to be a game-changer.

The Republican Party of India (Athawale) has already declared Mr Maurya as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

UP unit chief of RPI(A) Satya Narayan said that in a meeting of RPI(A) office-bearers held in Lucknow, Swami Prasad Maurya was congratulated for having moved away from the BSP.

“The RPI(A) has invited Swami Prasad Maurya to join the party and be the chief ministerial face of the party in the 2017 Assembly elections, thereby ensuring widespread reach of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s philosophy in UP households,” the RPI(A) leader said. The RPI has urged Mr Maurya to take the battle against Ms Mayawati forward.
