As the BJP-led NDA government completes two years this month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday listed the Mudra scheme, increased LPG coverage and electrification of villages as the government’s major achievements, asking BJP MPs to take these “successes” to the people. The Modi government was sworn in on May 26, 2014.

At the parliamentary party’s meeting, which was attended by the BJP top brass, including party president Amit Shah, the PM maintained that the commitment that the government had made to the people has been fulfilled.

The issue of the VVIP copter scam, over which the BJP has targeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi, was also taken up during the meeting. The Rajya Sabha will debate the issue on Wednesday and the Lok Sabha on May 6.

Earlier, rich tributes were paid to Balraj Madhok, one of the Jana Sangh founders, who passed away on Monday.

Condoling the death of Madhok, Mr Modi said he had spoken to him recently and his commitment to ideology and philosophy had remained as strong as ever. Party veteran L.K. Advani also recalled his association with him and said he had a contribution in the rise of the party.

Briefing the media after the meeting, MoS for parliamentary affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “The Prime Minister noted that the government as well as the Lok Sabha members will complete two years of their term. Mudra scheme, ongoing electrification of 18,000 villages, bringing over three crore families under the LPG network and distribution of cheap LED lights were cited as major successes. He asked the members to take them to the people.
