Owaisi surrenders over attack on Congress, TRS workers; granted bail

It was alleged that AIMIM workers beat up Congress and TRS top leaders during the last hours of GHMC polling.

: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi surrendered before Hyderabad police on Monday over an attack on Congress workers by AIMIM workers during GHMC polls. He was later granted bail in case.

Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali on Wednesday filed a criminal case against Owaisi after AIMIM workers beat up Congress and TRS top leaders during the last hours of GHMC polling on Tuesday.

AIMIM party workers and leaders ran amok on Tuesday across the Old City attacking leaders of various parties including Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali’s son Azam Ali and senior Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, and Ram Mohan Reddy.

The incident occurred when the Congress leaders were about to leave the Mir Chowk police station after the release of a Congress candidate on bail.
