Even as a strong thrust for indigenisation fuelled by the “Make in India” effort continues, where would one find American and Russian systems on a single naval platform Onboard an Indian Navy ship of course. On Tuesday, defence minister Manohar Parrikar had lavish praise for developing such capability.
“You may have a Russian and American equipment and fire system or missiles on an Indian platform and both can be operated through a command control Indian Navy integrated group on sensors, weapon systems and integration of different supply companies and different countries’ weapons and weapon systems, it is a speciality that only Indian Navy possesses, so it’s quite an achievement,” Mr Parrikar said after inaugurating the Naval Commanders’ Conference. A candid Parrikar also admitted to problematic issues. “There are some lacunas I will not like to discuss with you, we are addressing these lacunas. We are taking them up on priority basis,” he added.
