Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that reports about him being projected as the chief ministerial candidate in Uttar Pradesh were “fictitious and hypothetical”.

Talking to the media, Mr Singh said he would extend his full support to the one who was named the CM candidate in the state.

“I am already at one place and this is a hypothetical question. There is no dearth of leaders in our party in UP and I am confident that we will win with a clear majority in the Assembly elections”, he said.

He added that seeing the performance of the Modi government, people in UP feel that the country’s largest state should also have a BJP government.

Earlier, while inaugurating the Wi-Fi services and other passenger amenities at the Charbagh railway station, the minister said that India is the fastest growing economy in the world with the country witnessing more investments in past fiscal year than China and the United States. “The day is not far when our country will become an economic superpower”, he said.

Terming the Railways as the ‘best performing sector’, Mr Singh said several lakh crores of rupees were invested in it. He said that in the coming days, passengers would get more facilities than those available in developed countries.
