Supreme Court to hear jurisdiction plea today

With Justice J.S. Khehar recusing from hearing the petition, the Supreme Court on Monday posted for hearing on Tuesday a special leave petition filed by the Kejriwal government, which is at loggerheads with the Centre, on the jurisdiction of the Union government and the state government on various issues, including land and the police.

Even as senior counsel Indira Jaising, appearing for the Delhi government, submitted before a bench of Justices Khehar and Arun Mishra that the issue should be heard immediately, Justice Khehar directed the matter to be listed on Tuesday and asked the registry to take instructions for posting before an appropriate bench.

The AAP government said that disputes have arisen between the state government and the Centre on various issues of the constitutional relationship and several notifications and orders passed by the government could not be given effect to.
