Murder case cracked in 24 hours, four arrested

Acting swiftly, the police has arrested four persons in connection with murder of a youth in South Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar area within 24 hours of the registration of the case.

Acting swiftly, the police has arrested four persons in connection with murder of a youth in South Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar area within 24 hours of the registration of the case.

The accused have been identified as Pradeep alias Tinkal (23), Ashish alias Poky (22), Sunny (27) and Subhash alias Kalu (23). Pradeep, Ashish and Sunny are residents of Dakshin Puri, while Subhash stays in Sangam Vihar.

On Wednesday, 24-year-old Naresh was stabbed to death near his house in Ambedkar Nagar and the attackers had fled, leaving the knife plunged in the victim’s chest. The incident took place around 4.30 pm.

“Naresh’s brother Suresh is an eye witness to the incident. Suresh was present in his home when he heard noise emanating from street. When he came out of the house he saw two youth had caught hold of Naresh while two others stabbed him with knives,” a police officer said.

On seeing Suresh, all the four youths fled from the spot. Naresh was rushed to Batra Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

Acting on a tip off, the police said, Pradeep and Subhash were apprehended from Jahapahah city forest. During their interrogation, they confessed about their involvement in the crime along with their accomplices Ashish and Sunny.

“They further disclosed they had an altercation with Naresh in the past too since they were jealous of him as he was well educated, good player of cricket, had a good job and enjoyed good reputation in the society. On Wednesday, they saw Naresh alone in the street and finding an opportunity they killed him,” the police said.
