A 35-year-old woman resident of Munirka, who is originally from Nepal, was arrested in an inebriated state by the Vasant Vihar police for attacking police personnel trying to prevent her from creating a ruckus both inside and outside the police station on Sunday.

“She slapped a female police constable and bit a sub-inspector. The entire scene created by her was captured on the mobile camera of a policeman,” said the police.

Around 5.15 am, the woman was brought to the police by an auto-rickshaw driver after he had a dispute with her over payment. “The auto driver, whose services she had hired on her way back to her Munirka residence, found her drunk. He said she argued with him and had also hit him,” said a police officer.

When reached Munirka, the woman refused to pay the fare or get down and left him with no choice but to approach the police. At the Vasant Vihar police station, the staff was to get a taste of this unruly behaviour themselves. Sloshed, the woman got down from the auto-rickshaw and adamantly started screaming and abusing the driver as well as others, said the officer.

Sensing she was drunk, the cops tried to take her for a medical examination. She protested by lying on the ground and refusing to move, an action she repeated at Safdarjung Hospital.

“We have booked her under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 183 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of the Indian Penal Code and will arrest her,” said the officer on Sunday.
