The CBI has arrested a sub-divisional magistrate of the Delhi government for allegedly receiving Rs 50,000 as bribe for allowing illegal constructions to a resident in Naharpur village in the capital.

Rahul Aggarwal, a 2012-batch Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (Danics) officer, was posted at Saraswati Vihar.

An alleged tout Sandeep and two builders — Vijendra and Ashwani Yadav — were also arrested by the agency in the alleged bribery case late Thursday night. The agency carried out searches at the residence of Mr Aggarwal in Pitampura, but it had to encounter his wife, a radiologist, who allegedly blocked the entry of the team in the flat as she threw away her diamond jewellery on the terrace, a CBI sources claimed. The agency, however, managed to gather all the valuables from near a water tank where they were thrown.

Mr Aggarwal, a chemical engineer, joined Danics in 2012 and was given the first posting as SDM in Saraswati Vihar.
