A 27-year-old BPO employee died under mysterious circumstances after he fell down from the third floor balcony of his friend’s flat in Dwarka on Sunday night.

The police said that the BPO employee was nude when the unfortunate incident took place around 8.30 pm. Both the friends were allegedly under the influence of alcohol and some drugs at the time of the incident, said the police.

The two had met each other for the first time at the flat after they became friends on Facebook only 20 days ago. The police said the two had been chatting with each other since then. The other friend, who lived in the flat, too was in a semi-nude condition when he rushed down to check on his friend, who was lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

The police are now questioning the flat owner, Am-it Puri, a former BPO emp-loyee, to to establish the sequence of events that led to the unfortunate death of Saurabh Ghai, a resident of Uttam Nagar. Mr Puri is being grilled to explain why Ghai was naked when he fell off the latter’s balcony and also why he was visiting his flat.

Deependra Pathak, joint commissioner of police, said that Ghai’s body was sent to a government hospital for autopsy. No case was registered in connection with his death till Monday night.

“We are waiting for Ghai’s autopsy report to ascertain the exact cause of his death. Prima facie we don’t suspect any foul play. But we are not in a hurry. All possible angles in the matter will be examined. Puri has not been given a clean chit yet,” Mr Pathak said.

A senior police officer said Mr Puri lived alone in the flat. Ghai, on the other hand, lived with his family in Uttam Nagar and worked at a BPO in Gurgaon. Mr Puri’s questioning revealed that he had met Ghai on Facebook, the officer said.

“Puri claims that Ghai undressed himself and was lying in bed. Soon, he got up and went to the balcony. Puri suddenly heard a thud. Puri rushed to the balcony and found that his friend had fallen down,” the officer said.

“What exactly happened at Puri’s flat and how Ghai fell down is a matter for probe,” the officer added.
