A 12-year-old boy sustained bullet injuries when local gangsters attacked Geeta Colony residence of a man who had refused to accept their gang leader as the local “don” on Monday.

Four assailants on two motorcycles reached Mukhtiyar’s residence at 1 am on Monday and indiscriminately opened fire. The gangsters banged at the gate and challenged Mukhtiyar and his family to come outside. When no one responded, they opened several rounds of fire at the house. During the firing, a bullet pierced through the iron gate of the residence and grazed past the shoulder of Mukhtiyar’s younger brother, injuring him. He has been admitted to the G.T.B. Hospital. Locals said the gangsters fired at the house for 15 to 20 minutes. Everyone in the locality got scared by the firing and locked up their houses.

Mukhtiyar, who works as a salesperson in a cellphone firm said he had a verbal spat with Moni, who also lives in the same locality, at 8.30 pm on Sunday night. Moni asked him to refer to Billa, a local gangster, as “Bhai.” “I refused to refer to Billa as ‘Bhai’. My refusal angered Moni and Billa and they thrashed me. Late on the same night, Billa and his associates attacked at my house,” said the victim.

However, the police said that it was informed that four rounds of firing took place in the locality.
