If you are one among those who eagerly want to buy Audi's mid-sized SUV, the Q5, there's something that would make you feel sad. The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has conducted tests on the said car and found that the emission levels are higher than the approved limits. Thus, the German automaker has put a hold on the sales and production of the Q5 with immediate effect.

As per a report in The Times of India, high levels of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) found in the diesel model tested seems to be the prime matter of concern. The source in the article quoted, “The company has undertaken fine-tuning of software calibration pertaining to NOx trade-off.” Reacting to the tests, Audi confirmed that they have investigated the concern and have also identified corrective measures. Thus, in order to put a stop to the ‘faulty’ Q5s, Audi will be taking the said model out of dealerships. In return, a fresh new ‘rectified’ batch of this compact SUV will be supplied to the dealerships very soon.

Being a part of the Volkswagen Group, which has already undergone its share of the ‘emission scandal’ worldwide, Audi officials disagreed to link this matter with the global emission issue. “This is an altogether different matter. There is no link between the two,” a company official expressed. On the whole, Audi will be working diligently to get the Q5 back on the sales chart, but the timing of this matter may hamper sales for the German giant as the festive season is just around the corner.
