"The key would be to keep the good work going": Ashok Venkatramani on being elected as NBA President

The board has also elected Ashish Bagga as vice-president and M K Anand as the honorary treasurer.

In the Annual General Meeting (AGM) today (September 22, 2016) the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) elected Ashok Venkatramani, chief executive officer, ABP News, as president of the association. Venkatramani will replace Rajat Sharma, chairman and editor-in-chief, India TV. Sharma was elected president for the first time in 2014, and then re-elected in 2015.

Venkatramani, who was vice-president of the association, feels the key would be to keep the good work going. He says, "NBA has emerged as a strong organisation over the years and as president, I would like to see it strengthen further."

He adds, "It's too early for me to talk about any new development, we will see with time what happens."

The board also elected Ashish Bagga, group chief executive officer of the India Today Group as vice-president, and M K Anand, managing director and chief executive officer at Times Network, as honorary treasurer.

Other board members of the NBA include K V L Narayan Rao, executive vice-chairperson at New Delhi Television (NDTV), Rahul Joshi, chief executive, news, and Group editor-in-chief at TV18 Broadcast, Bhaskar Das, Group CEO, Zee Media Corporation, Anurradha Prasad, chairperson and managing director at News24 Broadcast India, and M V Shreyams Kumar, whole-time director at Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co.

Funded entirely by its members, the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) represents private television news and current affairs broadcasters.
