Viral Now: IKEA's 'Let's Relax' advert: Six million views and counting!

The hilarious spot shows the difference in the dining habits of people during the Instagram-less Victorian era and that of the 21st century.

"The family that eats together, stays together", goes the old saying. Adding a dash of sarcasm to this predicament is the Swedish furniture giant IKEA, which in its latest ad film 'Let's Relax', takes a dig at foodies who love to 'Instagram' about food before partaking in the actual activity itself. The spot, which was uploaded on the brand's YouTube channel on July 31, has already clocked six million views, and is still counting.

The one-and-a-half minute long film opens with a family of four seated around the dining table with a lavish feast laid out. The moment the younger daughter picks up something from the dishes offered at the table, her father, the head of the family, stops her from doing so and summons a painter to have the food served painted on canvas.

The absurdity of the situation is carried forward as the life-sized food portrait is taken around in horse carriages to be shown to the entire local community. It is only when the whole community nods in approval that the family finally gets down to enjoy the meal. A message flashes - It's a meal. Not a competition.

The next shot shows the father in a contemporary setting, clicking images of food items laid out on the table and then share them with the rest of the world through his Instagram account. The family poses, and once the photos are taken, everyone at the table smiles and settles down to start the meal. The ad ends with the message - Let's Relax.
