She has been appointed as editor-at-large for the publishing company's digital list.
Juggernaut, a book publishing start-up that aims to give authors both a digital and a physical platform, has appointed Priya Ramani, well-known features editor, as editor-at-large for its digital list. Ramani has worked in numerous publications including India Today, Elle, Indian Express, as well as the news agency Reuters. A former editor of Cosmopolitan, she had also created and led Lounge, Mint's weekend section, for eight years.
"We are thrilled that Ramani has joined Juggernaut. Her flair, intelligence and commercial instincts will be a terrific addition to our editorial team, and bolster our list even further," says Sarkar.
According to the team, Ramani, who is based in Bengaluru, will use her wide experience across news and features to build a commercial non-fiction list that includes lifestyle, business, sports, food, tech, and religion. The team had earlier said that Juggernaut's digital list will be more expansive than the physical list.
Raghunath says, "Bengaluru has traditionally been home to the early adopter audience in India, and it is, therefore, strategically important to have an editor of Ramani's calibre to be based there. We are excited to have her on board, given her rich experience across print, digital, and social."
Speaking about her new role, Ramani says, "I can't wait to use the skills I learned in various newsrooms and apply them to the world of publishing. I've spent a great deal of time over the past two decades, unlocking the mystery of what people want to read. The new assignment is bound to reveal some exciting new answers."
Juggernaut will launch its apps in February 2016 across iOS and Android, and its physical list in the summer of 2016.
