GEC watch: Life OK's loss becomes Sab TV's gain in week 3

The comedy channel marched ahead of Life OK to claim the fourth spot.

Sab TV, the comedy entertainment channel from Multi Screen Media stable, has gone ahead of Life OK, despite losing numbers. Life OK and Sab TV both saw a dip in viewership in week 3 of TAM. Having said that, while Sab TV lost 10913 GVTs, Life OK witnessed a loss of 23228 GVTs, giving the former an edge. As per TAM data (HSM, C&S, 4+) provided by a subscriber, Life OK and Sab TV ended the week with 315906 GVTs and 317554 GVTs, respectively.

Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma continues to be one of the most watched shows in the genre. Star Plus was the only gainer in the top five contenders. The Star India flagship channel garnered 613398 GVTs in the week, up from last week's 612762. Four of its shows featured in the top shows list of the week ended January 17.

Colors, at No.2, clocked 484835 GVTs in the week compared to 510208 GVTs in the last week. The channel had aired Stardust Awards in the week. The award show, along with two more have featured in the top shows' chart. Zee TV is next with 417456 GVTs. The channel had registered 432946 GVTs in the previous week. The channel managed to push two of its shows to the top shows list.

Sony Entertainment Television continues to be at No.6. The channel grossed 235056 GVTs in the week, down from last week's 235415 TVTs. Zee Anmol closed the week with 87258 GVTs (last week 93381), Star Utsav with 80187 GVTs (last week 86535), Big Magic with 56577 GVTs (last week 61688) and Rishtey with 52243 GVTs (last week 61688). Sony Pal registered 28501 GVTs (last week 28473) and Zindagi clocked 24471 GVTs (last week 30340).

Sahara One concluded the week with 11059 GVTs (no change over last week) and Epic ended it with 8304 GVTs (last week 7637).

A look at the shows...

Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum was the most watched show on Hindi GECs with an average of 10429 TVTs. It was followed by Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya that clocked 9192 TVTs.

The next two spots are occupied by Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein that notched 9076 TVTs and 8461 TVTs, respectively in the week. Next is Colors Stardust Awards that recorded a viewership of 8343 TVTs. SAB TV's Taarak Mehta Ka... took the sixth spot in the hierarchy with 8071 TVTs.

The next is Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that wrapped up the week with 7691 TVTs. Following are Colors' Sasural Simar Ka and Udaan that ended the week with 7521 TVTs and 7418 TVTs respectively. Zee TV's Jamai Raja with 7399 TVTs is at No. 10.

For the record, TVT is television viewership in 1000s (TVR in 1000). It is the average number of individuals in '000s that are available at any given minute of a programme/day part that is under consideration. It captures growth in TV audiences in the country in absolute numbers. The TVR system, in contrast, works on percentages.
