Company Brief

National, December 3, 2014

We, at Lokmat Media Pvt. Ltd., believe that being a leading media house of the nation; we have a responsibility towards the society we live in, towards our readers. We have been constantly involved in activities to empower, enlighten & inform different sections of society. We have also undertaken the ‘Save the girl child’ campaign, as a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. Through our initiatives, we also encourage women entrepreneurship.

In the same quest to empower, enlighten & inform women, we first initiated the Lokmat Women Summit in the year 2011. Objective behind organizing the summit was to hold discussions on pressing issues facing women & on the immediate solutions which can be implemented. Also through this noble initiative, we acknowledged & felicitated such women achievers, who have been silently working for making a better society & whose contribution goes largely unnoticed otherwise.

It gives us immense pleasure, as we announce the fourth edition of Lokmat Women Summit on Tuesday, 2nd December, 2014 in Pune. Previous three editions of the summit were hugely successful and were graced by eminent women personalities like Ms. Varsha Gaikwad, the then Minister of Women & Child Welfare, Govt. of Maharashtra, Padma Bhushan Mrs. Rajshri Birla, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Ms. Anu Aga; Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Ms. Supriya Sule; Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Mrs. Kirron Kher; Renowned Actor & current Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Ms. Shobhaa De, Ms. Rashmi Bansal, Ms. Meher Pudumjee, Ms. Lynn De Souza, Magsaysay Award winner Ms. Nileema Mishra, Ms. Tisca Chopra etc to name a few. LWS – 2014

“Women hold up half the sky.”

Mao Zedong

Women have an equal right to live dignified lives free of discrimination, violence, intimidation and one full of opportunities and choices. They should have access to the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as their male counterparts; not because empowering women empowers the entire community, improves standard of living & results in healthier & educated children, but because women deserve all the rights and privileges afforded to their male counterparts simply because they are women who hold up half the sky…

The Lokmat Women Summit, in its 4th year, returns with the empowering programme to enable attendees / readers address the challenges that they face. The dynamic event will witness illustrious women personalities from different fields share their experiences and voice their concerns regarding the various pressing issues as well as put forward opinions on how their rights could be better enshrined in legislative, economic and cultural reform.
