Babu Sherpa won the ninth edition of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stroke play format with full handicap allowance, Sherpa scored three-under 69 nett to lift the title, while Dhurba Thapa came second with one-under 71 and Ang Teshiring Sherpa was third with two-over 74.

Surendra Phuyal won the gross section award with the score of nine-over 80 and Sam Doublard bagged the junior category trophy with the score of one-over 73. A total of 24 players took part in the tournament organised by Gokarna Golf Club under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners.

After the penultimate round, Babu Sherpa moved to joint fourth with Athma Ram Simkhada with 320 points. Dhurba Thapa jumped to the top of the nett section table with 500 points, while Jigmay Dongstetsang is second with 460 points and Tendi Sherpa is third with 420.

In gross section, Tendi Sherpa is at the top of the table with 120 points, while Vijay Shrestha Einhaus and SSP (retd) Rajendra Shrestha share the second position with 115 points. Dongstetsang (110) and Prithivi Malla (100) are fourth and fifth respectively.

In junior section, Devasri Rana lead the table with 230 points, while Mayanka Dahal is distant second with 140. Sam Doublard and Tenzing Yoden Lama are tied for third with 130 points.

A total of 10 medal rounds will be played in the season with top 40 in nett section and top 10 in gross and junior categories making it to the Club Championship to be played over two rounds in January and February.
