The police had earlier confirmed that the driver Gharti and his helper Sunil Pun died in the accident.

The tractor (Lu 2 Ta 2558) heading towards Tulsipur from Liwang of Rolpa had met with the accident at 10 pm on Wednesday.

But the driver now said they actually came from Mokhala of Salyan.

According to the driver's account, an unidentified person forcibly boarded the tractor in Sri Nagar of Salyan. During the time of accident, there were three persons on board the tractor – the driver, his helper and the unidentified person.

Gharti added that the tractor which needed repair met with the accident when negotiating a turn.

He further claimed he gained consciousness at 3 pm on Thursday and painstakingly walked to a nearby house at 7 pm.

Meanwhile, Gharti's parents took home a body of another person claiming it as their son's after the postmortem on Thursday, police said.

"The relatives took the body claiming it as their person, it happened because of similar facial appearance. But, now we have informed the relatives," said Inspector Santosh Roka, of the Area Police Office.

The plan for final rites and cremation of the body thought to be of Gharti has been abandoned after Gharti came into contact.
