Khotang, June 25

Transport movement along the Diktel-Halesi road section in Khotang remains obstructed for the past one week due to incessant rainfall.

As a result, people wanting to travel in and outside the district have been hit hard.

Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association Khotang Secretary Ram Hingmang said it was not possible to operate vehicles along the road in summer as the contractor assigned to blacktop the road had piled up the soil and boulders on the road.

Drivers plying vehicles along the road section said that they had stopped operating their vehicles due to sorry condition of the road.

Small jeeps have been  providing transport services after heavy vehicles could not ply the road due a large number of potholes on the street.

Likewise, Diktel-Hurlung road section remains closed for a month.

With the road closed, the price of daily essentials has gone up in the district.

The price hike of daily essentials has hit the consumers hard.
