Dang fugitive arrested after 16 years

DANG: Police here on Friday reportedly arrested a fugitive who had been on the run for the past 16 years after being convicted of a robbery case.

Prakash Chaudhary (36) of Pachahawa in Gobardiya-5 of the district was sentenced to nine years in prison and was slapped with a fine of Rs 990,072 by the Dang Deukhuri District Court for robbing the house of Dhaneshwor Aryal in Gobardiya VDC-5 on June 16, 2000.

Chaudhary was arrested from his house under a campaign launched to nab the fugitives, control smuggling, intimidation and extortion, informed the Dang District Police Office Chief Dhiraj Pratap Singh.

Meanwhile, a person, who had been absconding for more than four years after being charged with a rape case, was also arrested.

Suman Kumal of Jaluke-6 of Arghakanchi district had allegedly raped a teenage girl on July 10, 2012.

Kumal was arrested from Chisapani at Juraini of Gobardiya-9 by a team of special force deployed from the Bhaluwang Area Police Office.
