Driver killed, another injured in Siraha trucks collision

KATHMANDU: A truck driver died and another driver sustained injuries after two trucks collided along the East-West Highway in Lahan Municipality-1 of Siraha district on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hari Bahadur Lo (26) of Ambhanjyang VDC-4 and the injured as Ramesh Chaulagain (19) of Hetaunda Municipality-1, both from Makawanpur district.

The incident occurred when the truck (Ba 4 Kha 712) heading towards the west collided head-on with the truck (Na 5 Kha 1925), fatally injuring one of the drivers and critically injuring another, near Loka Marga, west of Bajaranga Petrol Pump at around 7: 30 am today, according to the Lahan-based Area Police Office (APO).

Lo was found unconscious while Chaulagain was found trapped in the cabin of the truck (Na 5 Kha 1925) when the security personnel reached the incident site.

Lo died on the way while being rushed to a hospital in Lahan Municipality while Chaulagain is receiving treatment, said police.

Meanwhile, both of the heavy vehicles are being taken out of the Highway, informed the APO.
