KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday reiterated that the government was trying to defer elections at local, provincial and federal levels, thereby delaying the Constitution implementation.

Opening his party's Central Committee meeting at the party headquarters, Dhumbarahi, today, Oli said the UML would therefore strongly resist the government moves aimed at it.

"Attempts have been made to delay elections as it is understood that Constitution cannot be implemented without it," he told the meeting, "Our party would strongly stand against that."

Oli also said his government was toppled as it stood strong in the favour of nationalism, without submitting oneself to others.

The immediate past Prime Minister further criticised Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal for what he argued unnecessarily commenting on other political parties in Nepal during the latter's recent India visit, according to a Rastriya Samachar Samiti report.

"It is really inappropriate, immature and wrong to directly report the names of political parties and leaders of the country," he said.

Meanwhile, Oli also presented a 32-page political document before the CC for deliberations today. The party's Deputy General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal had read out the report.

It has been learned that Bhusal is planning to table a separate political paper taking exceptions to Oli's document.

The meeting divided the CC members into nine groups to discuss Oli's paper, informed a statement issued by the party Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai.

Meanwhile, the CC today endorsed eight agendas for the meeting.

The meeting shall resume at 1 pm tomorrow, according to Bhattarai.
