KATHMANDU: Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Attorney General Hari Phuyal in the President’s Office at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.

At a ceremony organised today, Acting Chief Justice Karki administered the oath of office to Phuyal in the presence of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

On the occasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Prasad Kharel, Nepal Bar Association Chairman Sher Bahadur KC, among others were also present in the programme.

President Bhandari had appointed Phuyal as the Attorney General with the recommendation of PM Oli on Sunday.

The post of Attorney General had been lying vacant since the then AG Hari Krishna Karki was recommended for the post of the Justice at Supreme Court.

Phuyal, who has attained expertise in criminal and human rights law, has been active in judiciary for 25 years.
