Just in: Former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, convicted of the 2013 murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, has been sentenced to 13 years and five months in jail.

The world-renowned athlete was arrested on Valentine's Day in 2013 the day of the killing. He claimed that he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder.

The Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein more than doubled his original sentence of six years after the state appealed that it was unduly lenient.
