Veteran filmmaker and ex-minister Dasari Narayana Rao dead

Veteran Telugu filmmaker and former minister of coal Dasari Narayana Rao passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75.

Rao, who holds a record for directing 125 films in Telugu, died at Hyderabad's KIMS hospital after prolonged illness.

Rao is known for his work predominantly in Telugu cinema. Some of his most famous films are Tandra Paparayudu (1986), Meghasandesam (1983) and Kaante Koothurne Kanu (2000).

Rao, who was a minister in the United Progressive Alliance government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh, was also chargesheeted in the coal scam. -- Agencies
